Jalandhar, December 20 (News Hunt)- Intensifying vigil in the wake of ensuing assembly elections against anti-social elements, drug peddlers and proclaimed offenders, the Rural police has busted a gang by arresting four persons with .32 bore nine pistols, 16 live cartridges, 3 gm heroin, 260-gm intoxicant powder and drug money worth Rs 2.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Barinder Singh Sandhu, Amit Hans of Neelamahal, Shashi Kumar of New Amar Nagar, and Arwinder Singh of village Helran of Jalandhar. Giving details about the gang, Assistant Superintendent of Police Adampur Ajay Gandhi disclosed that Bhogpur SHO Harinder Singh along with his team had placed a naka on Adampur T-point on the tip-off and nabbed all of them when they were conspiring to strike in the area on December 18.
He said that a case under sections 21-61-85 of NDPS Act and 25-54-59 of Arms Act has been registered against them in Bhogpur police station. Gandhi added that on December 18, the cops had confiscated .32 bore three pistols, four magazines, 10 live cartridges, 3-gm heroin and drug money worth Rs one lakh was recovered from Tata Indigo car. Similarly on next two days (December 19 and 20), the cops recovered five pistols, six live cartridges and Rs 1.5 lakh drug money on their disclosures.
He said that the accused persons have already been facing criminal cases in various police stations and more recovery of weapons is expected from their revelations. Meanwhile, the SSP Jalandhar Rural Satinder Singh warned the anti social elements that those indulged in anti-social activities would not be spared and stern action would be taken against them.
