ALANDHAR CROSSES 30 LAKH MARK IN VACCINATION: DC GHANSHYAM THORI

Jalandhar, February 1 (News Hunt)- Setting another milestone against its fight against Covid-19 pandemic, Jalandhar district has crossed the mark of 30 lakh in vaccination by administering 30,01,079 doses to eligible beneficiaries.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori stated that as many as 16,75,552 first doses and 12,88,186 second doses have been administered to eligible beneficiaries so far in the district besides 37,341 have received precaution doses. He categorically mentioned that the special efforts were made by the administration on Saturday and Sunday wherein nearly 350 mobile camps were held across the district in which over 65,000 doses were administered to eligible beneficiaries. He also said that about 250 mobile vaccination camps were being held across Jalandhar on a daily basis so as to provide inoculation services to people near their homes.

Mr. Thori urged people to participate actively in this vaccination drive so that the target of one hundred percent vaccination could be achieved which would further take us towards an endemic. Earlier, the district administration has taken slew of measures to ensure maximum people get their vaccination jabs including curbs on those who have missed their second doses, he said adding that the citizen-centric services would only be offered to those who have received both the jabs.

He thanked the people of Jalandhar district for their support and cooperation in these camps, without which this achievement was almost impossible. He also lauded the efforts of social and religious bodies for their immense contribution in this task besides hailing the entire healthcare workers.

Meanwhile, the DC has asked the principals of all government and private colleges to ensure vaccination of their students falling in the age group of 15-18 years old as per guidelines issued by the government. In a written communiqué to colleges, he asked the heads of these institutions to organize special vaccination camps in their premises besides submitting compliance certificates to district administration after completing vaccination of the eligible students. He has also appointed nodal officers to assist the colleges for vaccination of students and asked them to contact these officers for the organization of camps in their respective premises. These officers included IAS (UT) Ojasvi Alankar (89014-43600), District Immunization Officer Rakesh Chopra (94171-64164), Nodal Officer School Vaccination Stephen SJ Seclam (90323-04050), Coordinators Naveen Kumar (97819-74949), Rohan Sharma (99882-65076), and Raman (70095-65700).

DC FLAGS OFF VAN FOR VOTERS’ AWARENESS AND VACCINATION

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today flagged off an awareness van here at district administrative complex, which would visit both urban and rural areas to disseminate the message of maximum voting and vaccination in the district.

Giving more details, the DC said that the van was prepared by the field outreach bureau of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which would move in the Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts for next seven days. Field Publicity Officer of MIB Rajesh Bali stated that the similar initiative was launched at various cities of the state including Chandigarh wherein more vans were flagged off for different areas of Punjab. The van also distributed awareness material among masses to sensitize them for maximum participation in voting, the pamphlet was also released by the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.
