Jalandhar, April 29 (News Hunt)- Under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav’ being celebrated to mark the 75th Anniversary of Independence of the country, a series of activities would be held by the district administration with massive public participation so that the spirit of patriotism could be further strengthened in the society, especially in young generation.
Taking part in the virtual review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anirudh Tewari, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav’ various activities have already been undertaken by different departments in the district including ‘Bhasha Sikho’ program, online tour and seminar of Jang-e-Azaadi memorial for more than 100 students, and cutting of 75 feet long cake during sweep activities.
Likewise, block level health melas were also organized by the health department, said Mr. Thori, adding a district digital repository submissions have also been made based on more than ten unsung heroes of Jalandhar, who were part of the freedom struggle.
The DC also said that in coming days a large scale public participation would be ensured under these activities. He stated the departments concerned have been asked to prepare a calendar of events listing all the activities to be carried out by August 2023 so that these activities are held in a smooth and elaborated manner. He further directed the officials to upload all the activities concerning their departments on the government website.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh, District Education Officer Gurbhajan Singh, DPO G.S. Randhawa, Deputy District Education Officer (Sec) Rajiv Joshi, and others were present.
