Dr Virendra Kumar to inaugurate the services of CRC- Shillong for skill development, rehabilitation and empowerment of the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) on 17 May 2022

Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar will inaugurate the services of the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) at Shillong, Meghalaya on 17 May 2022.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Km.Pratima Bhoumik along with Shri Kyrmen Shylla, Minister of Social Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya, ShriVincent H Pala, M.P., Meghalaya, Smt.Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong will be present on the occasion.

Smt. Anjali Bhawra (IAS), Secretary, DEPwD, MSJ&E, GOI, Smt.S.B.Marak (MCS) Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of Meghalaya, Shri Sampath Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya, Shri Nachiketa Rout, Director, NIEPMD, Chennai, Dr Roshan Bijlee, Director & Nodal Officer of CRC(Kozhikode & Shillong) and other senior officers will also attend the function.

CRC- Shillong is situated around 10 acres of land given by Govt. of Meghalayaat Monfort Building, Dhankheti, Shillong and functioning under the administrative control of the National Institute for Empowerment of Person with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Chennai, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), Govt. of India with an aim of creating resources and services required for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the State of Meghalaya.

The Government of India has set up CRCs in different parts of India, especially in the North-Eastern States. The CRC at Shillong is the 20th such institution and has become functional since July 19th 2021.

CRC-Shillong provides the clinical services to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) like Special Education, Physiotherapy, Vocational Rehabilitation, Clinical Psychology, Orientation and Mobility training, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Hearing Services, Prosthetic & Orthotic Services, Sensory Integration therapy, Guidance & Counseling and community-based rehabilitation services in Meghalaya.

CRC Shillong also provides Aids & Appliances to the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) under ADIP Scheme by organizing an ADIP assessment and distribution camp.

Apart from providing clinical services, this organization is involved in creating awareness, developing resource materials, conducting outreach programs and implementing schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI.

YAI MULTICLASS SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 (IN-MDL CUP)

The participants from the Indian Navy’s Sailing and Windsurfing teams exhibited a stellar performance in the recently concluded YAI Multiclass Sailing Championship (IN-MDL Cup 2022) by winning two Gold (Nacra 17 and 470 mix classes), one silver (470 mix class) and two Bronze medals (49er and iQFoil classes).

The event was conducted at the Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC) Mumbai under the aegis of the Yachting Association of India (YAI) and Indian Navy Sailing Association (INSA) for senior Olympic classes of boats from 08 – 15 May 22.

The event was sponsored by M/s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and was a YAI ranking event as well as selection trials for the Asian Games.

The races were conducted off Mumbai harbour. A total of 97 sailors from 10 sailing clubs across the country participated in the keenly contested event. The competitors battled out in 121 races including 5 medal races to achieve their National Ranking points over a span of 5 days in winds ranging from 8- 15 Kts and choppy sea. It was the first time in the history of Indian Sailing when medal races for five classes viz ILCA 7, ILCA 6, 49er, 470 (mixed) and RS:X were conducted. The concept of a medal race with double points is now used worldwide in all major sailing events to keep up the level of competition till the last day of the series.

A team of event officials including World Sailing Qualified International Race officers, International Judges and International Measurer worked flawlessly to ensure a fair and level playing ground for all the competitors.Vice Admiral K Swaminathan, AVSM, PVSM, Chief of Staff, HQWNC was the chief guest for the closing ceremony held on 15 May 22 at INWTC (Mumbai) and presented medals to the winners.

Russian Oligarch says Vladimir Putin is suffering from blood cancer.
The media is suggesting that Putin has an illness related to his blood, but this is unconfirmed.
“An oligarch close to Putin’s inner circle” believes that he does have a physical ailment, and said, “He’s very ill…somewhere between a grave illness and death.”
“The problem is with his head. One crazy guy can turn the world upside down,” the oligarch said.
A report by The New Lines said that a venture capitalist transcribed a conversation with an oligarch, which lasted for 11 minutes.
The former European security official also described the unnamed oligarch as belonging to a close circle of Vladimir Putin.
He also points out that there have been over 15,000 Russian soldiers and 4,000-5,000 civilians killed in Ukraine since the start of the war.

Shooting at Laguna Woods Church leaves 1 person dead and 5 injured.

A group of churchgoers in Orange County stopped a mass shooter by hogtying him with an extension cord. The shooter was stopped after he opened fire on a luncheon.
He has since been arrested by authorities.
The victims of the shooting were all over sixty years old.
The medical center confirmed in a statement that two of the victims were taken to Providence Mission Hospital.

The Phoenix Suns lost the game with a final score of 123-90 to the Dallas Mavericks, ending their playoff series in the Western Conference semifinals.
Luka Doncic, from the Mavericks, led his team to victory with 35 points in the game.
Spencer Dinwiddie of the Nets contributed with 30 points and Jalen Brunson had 24 for the Mavs.
Doncic punched the Mavericks’ ticket to the Conference Finals with a performance of 35 points in 30 minutes.
He sat out the entire fourth quarter because the game was well in hand by that point.
Cameron Johnson led Phoenix with 12 points, but it was Chris Paul and Devin Booker contributed 10 and 11 respectively. Deandre Ayton only contributed 5 points.
The Suns shot 33-for-87 from the field in the game.
The Mavericks were 46-for-81. They also hit 19-of-39 3-point attempts.
