JALANDHAR, FEBRUARY 3 (News Hunt)- The General & Police observers appointed by the Election Commission of India for Jalandhar today visited the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee and directed the staff to intensify monitoring on social media platforms besides having a close vigil on print and electronic media’s activities pertaining to elections.

General Observer Mahesh Chandra Sharma, a 2007-batch IAS officer, along with police observer Dr. N. Kolanchi, a 2008-batch IPS officer, interacted the Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) staff to get info on the issues of pre-certification, surveillance on paid news, activities of candidates on social media platforms etc. The General Observer Mahesh Chandra Sharma said that all electioneering activities and advertisements especially on the news websites, web portals whether empanelled or non-empanelled, should be watched minutely by the social media surveillance teams.

The ECI guidelines mandated that all the political advertisements in e-paper of any newspaper are required pre-certification by the concerned MCMC, said the General Observer adding that no candidate could release any advertisement to social media platforms without getting its content approved from the committee. He said that the authentic social media accounts as informed by the candidates in para-3 of Form-26 at the time of filing nominations should be tracked by the teams so that in case of any violation, the necessary action could be initiated as per the ECI directives. He said that the candidates and political parties shall include all expenditure on campaigning, including expenditure on advertisements on social media including payments made to internet companies, websites for carrying advertisements and expenditure on campaign related works on social media.

The both observers also emphasized that news content related to political parties and candidates in local and regional news papers should also be scrutinized so that the teams could trace and report suspected paid news, if any. The observers also inspected the cases of pre-certification of political publicity material and advertisements being given by the candidates in different assembly segments.

DIRECTS C-VIGIL, NGRS TO DISPOSE OFF ALL COMPLAINTS WITHIN GIVEN TIME FRAME:

The Observers also took a round of complaint cell, C-VIGIL center and NGRS, where they also inspected mechanism to receive and resolve complaints as per the ECI guidelines. They directed the staff to ensure timely resolution of all complaints.

ALL ARRANGEMENTS TO BE PUT IN PLACE:

Meanwhile, the Observers also went to the premises of Director Land Records Society at Kapurthala Road to take stock of arrangements. Mahesh Chandra Sharma also instructed the concerned authorities to accomplish all preparations and arrangements well in advance so that all operations should be completed seamlessly.

JALANDHAR, FEBRUARY 2 (News Hunt)- Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today visited polling personnel dispersal and polling parties collection centers set up at various locations to review the poll preparedness and working of returning officers for the forthcoming assembly elections in Jalandhar.

Giving directions to strict adherence of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India while discharging duty, the DC asked all ROs to leave no stone unturned to ensure smooth conduct of election in all nine assembly constituencies in the district. He also visited different cells set up at the returning officers so as to ensure a free, fair and transparent poll process. He said that elaborate arrangements have been put in place from dispersal of poll parties to counting while following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.

During the visit, the DC visited Khalsa College for Women, Cantt Road, Government Arts and Sports College Kapurthala Road, Raizada Hansraj Stadium (Badminton Hall), Government Model Senior Secondary School Ladowali Road, Government College of Education Ladowali Road, KMV College Tanda Road, Government Senior Secondary School Phillaur, Guru Nanak National College Nakodar, and Government Senior Secondary School Shahkot, where polling personnel dispersal and polling party collection centers have been set up by the returning officers concerned. Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner also inspected the arrangements made for pre-poll strong rooms and issued necessary directions.

जालंधर, 2 फरवरी (न्यूज़ हंट)- इस महीने 20 फरवरी को ज़िले के सभी 9 विधान सभा हलकों में होने जा रहे चुनाव के लिए आज नामांकन पत्रों की पड़ताल के बाद 107 उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में रह गए है।

डिप्टी कमिशनर -कम -ज़िला चुनाव अधिकारी ने इस सम्बन्धित जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि फिल्लौर हलके से 16 उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं। इसी तरह नकोदर, शाहकोट, करतारपुर, जालंधर पश्चिमी, जालंधर केंद्रीय, जालंधर उत्तरी, जालंधर छावनी और आदमपुर विधान सभा हलके में क्रमवार 13, 14, 9, 13, 8, 12, 12 और 10 उम्मीदवार रह गए हैं। इनमें से कुल 31 उम्मीदवारों की तरफ से आज़ाद उम्मीदवार के तौर पर कागज़ दाख़िल किये हैं जबकि 76 अलग -अलग राजनीतिक पार्टियों की तरफ से चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं।

डिप्टी कमिशनर ने बताया कि 4 फरवरी को बाद दोपहर 3 बजे तक नामांकन पत्र वापस लिए जा सकते है और नामांकन की वापसी उपरांत योग्य उम्मीदवारों को चुनाव निशान अलाट किए जाएंगे। उन्होंने आगे बताया कि मतदान 20 फरवरी, 2020 को पड़ेंगा, जबकि गिनती 10 मार्च को होगी। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि जिले में स्वतंत्र, निष्पक्ष और पारर्दशी चुनाव को यकीनी बनाने के लिए पहले ही पुख़्ता प्रबंध किये जा चुके हैं और सभी आधिकारियों को सम्बन्धित सभी काम चुनाव कमिशन की तरफ से जारी आदेशों अनुसार करने के लिए निर्देश जारी कर दिए गए हैं।

JALANDHAR, February 2 (News Hunt)- In a bid to create awareness amongst the young voter regarding voting rights, district administration Jalandhar has launched a slew of initiatives under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

Divulging the details, Assistant Commissioner (Under Training) Ojasvi Alankar said that the district administration has adopted multi-pronged strategy to spread awareness among voters for their right to franchise so that maximum voting was ensured on poll day i.e. February 20, 2022. A number of educational institutions were also roped in so as to make this drive a mega success in Jalandhar, he said adding that poster making, slogan writing, painting competition dedicated to ethical voting were also being held in these institutions.

He further mentioned that initiatives like Doodle Art Series, Wall Paintings, Street Play, releasing of voters’ awareness song `Jugni’ were becoming an attraction point among youngsters. Messages and slogans from famous artists were also prepared by the administration to further disseminate them among youth through social media platforms. A special logo for SVEEP activities was also designed in collaboration with GNA besides a dedicated song Jugni was also recorded and shot in collaboration with Ramanpreet Kaur CEO Shamsheer Production, HMV College Jalandhar. Mr. Alankar thanked the NGOs and Educational Institutions for their active participation in this campaign while further soliciting their support and cooperation for future endeavors of district administration Jalandhar in this direction.

He reiterated administration’s commitment to sensitize maximum voters for use of their voting right judiciously as the campaign would be further intensified in coming days. He stated that no stone would be left unturned to make this awareness campaign successful in the district.

Meanwhile, Director of this song Ramanpreet Kaur while sharing her experience said that the song was written and directed within a short span of time of two days. She thanked district administration Jalandhar for making her a part of SVEEP campaign and offered fulsome support in future also.
