Jalandhar, Decmber 28 (News Hunt)- Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today said that as many as 332 dependents of Covid-19 victims have applied for the benefit of Ex-gratia amount worth Rs. 50,000 being given by the government.

Chairing a meeting of Covid-19 death ascertaining committee (CDAC), the DC said that of these, financial assistant was already provided in a total of 104 cases while 76 files have been verified by the health officials. He mentioned that there was as many as 1496 cases in the district of which only 332 have applied for this benefit. He stated that the district administration has also approached the families of Covid-19 victims so that benefit of Ex-gratia amount could be delivered to all of them.

Meanwhile, the DC directed the officials concerned to fast track the process of verification so that disbursal of monetary help could be ensured as early as possible. He directed that none of the eligible family should be left out of the ambit of benefit besides providing the monetary help to all after completing the requisite verification.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the officials to speed up the process so the compensation announced by the Punjab Government could be given to the dependent family members of those, who had lost their live due to coronavirus. He also urged the people to submit their applications for getting compensation in the office concerned. Application form and other relevant documents have already been uploaded on the website of Jalandhar administration i.e. www.jalandhar.nic.in and people can get these downloaded from the website to get the monetary help, said Thori adding that the application could be submitted in room no 106, First Floor, Deputy Commissioner Office, DAC, Jalandhar. He said that the staff had already been deputed in this room to facilitate the people.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that people could call at COVID control room’s no 0181-2224417 for any information in this regard.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Amarjit Bains, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Varinder Kaur and others were also present on the occasion.

JALANDHAR, DECEMBER 28 (News Hunt)- In view of ensuing Vidhan Sabha polls-2022, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday, under quarterly inspection, took stock of storage and security arrangements at District Level EVMs store setup in the District Land Records Society complex.

Along with representatives of political parties and officials of election office, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements being put in place for counting centers to be established for nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies. He also inspected the place where strong room would be setup in days to come. In presence of representative of AAP Harcharan Singh and BSP’s Vijay Yadav, the EVMs warehouse was opened to review the safety, storage and security arrangements for EVMs and VVPAT machines.

The Deputy Commissioner also took a round of place, where counting centre at district level for nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies would be setup besides inspecting the strong rooms for this purpose. It was also informed that the counting centre for 35-Jalandhar Central, 37-Jalandhar Cantt and 38-Adampur would be established in new building at Director Land Records while centers for 32-Shahkot and 33-Kartarpur would be setup in old building. Similarly, the counting centre for 30-Phillaur and 31-Nakodar will be made at State Patwar School whereas 34-Jalandhar West and 36-Jalandhar North will have its counting centers in Gymnasium Hall and Dining Hall of Sports School/College.

Notably, the District Election Officer conducts monthly and quarterly inspection of EVM storage and security as per the directions of ECI, following which the Deputy Commissioner has conducted quarterly inspection. Election Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, Election Kanungos Rakesh Kumar and Jaspreet Singh were also present.

NAKODAR (JALANDHAR), DECEMBER 26 (News Hunt)- Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday paid obeisance at Dera Baba Murad Shah and Darbar Almast Bapu Lal Badshah, Nakodar.

Accompanied by MLA Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia, Former Minister Amarjeet Singh Samra, Ex-MLA Kanwaljeet Singh Lalli and others, the Chief Minister

Charanjit Singh Channi went to Dera Baba Murad Shah where he prayed for the welfare of all sections of the society besides seeking blessings to serve the people of Punjab for more effectively. The trustees of Dera Baba Murad Shah presented a shawl to the Chief Minister, who also partook the langar with sangat.

The Chief Minister also met and interacted with the sangat gathered from different parts of the state. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also paid obeisance at Darbar Bapu Lal Badshah Ji, Nakodar.

While visiting the Darbar complex, the Chief Minister also spoke with the sangat besides partaking in langar along with head Sewadar and MP Hans Raj Hans. CM Channi also prayed for the peace and prosperity in the state.

CM Channi also announced grants of Rs 11 lakh each for the both religious places.
