IN A FIRST: DC HANDS OVER EAT RIGHT STATION CERTIFICATE TO JALANDHAR RAILWAY STATION

In a first-of-its kind initiative, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh today handed over Eat-Right Certification to Jalandhar City Railway Station issued by Food Safety and Standard Authority of India. This move would ensure the availability of hygienic and quality food products at the railway station as per government’s guidelines. 

Divulging the details, the DC said that the certificate has been issued by the FSSAI after a detailed audit of eateries in the premises of city railway station which included water and food sampling, FOSTAC training, medicals of staff, hygiene of food handlers, pest control so that consumers get quality food products at these outlets. Mr. Singh further mentioned that this move will pave a way towards creating more ‘Eat Right’ locations in the city. 

Pointing out further, Designated Officer (Food Safety) Dr. Reema Gogia said that on the directions of Commissioner (Food and Drug Administration) Dr. Abhinav Trikha, the health administration has successfully certified the Jalandhar City Railway Station as FSSAI’s Eat Right Station. She further mentioned that the entire process was started with registration of the railway station under this initiative. Later other requirements like FOSTAC training, food testing, water testing, medicals of the vendors were fulfilled. The final audit of the railway station was done by the third party auditing agency approved by FDA Punjab following which the certificate is issued to the Railway Station.
