JALANDHAR, DECEMBER 29 (News Hunt)- Amid challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday directed the health teams to enhance the daily vaccination with 6000 doses across the district so that the further spread of virus could be contained efficaciously.
While reviewing the status of ongoing vaccination with district level officers of health department and senior medical officers, the Deputy Commissioner asked them to pull up their socks for vaccination drive to be started from January 3 for the beneficiaries of 15 to 18 years age group. He said that as per the Government instructions the teams would start administering the booster dose from January 10 and the doses being administered presently at all sites should be doubled.
It was also informed in the meeting that there are 1620680 total eligible beneficiaries in the district of which 1498199 first doses and 956126 second doses had already been given. The District Immunisation Officer apprised that 92.44 percentage eligible beneficiaries had got first dose while 59 percent vaccinated with second dose. Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the all remaining beneficiaries should be covered at the earliest in view of next challenges besides the another drive of vaccination.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the status of PSA plants in Government and Private Hospitals in the district. Thori was apprised that in private hospitals 12 new and five old PSA plants were fully functional while one is being under installation. The Deputy Commissioner pointed out that the District Administration is fully geared up to tackle any exigency in view of proposed COVID wave and impact of OMICRON, if anywhere in the district. He also directed them to intensify the sampling drive so that the further spread of virus could be contained.
