DC TO MAKE PRESENTATION ON JALANDHAR’S ZERO PENDENCY INITIATIVE AT REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF NORTH-EASTERN & EASTERN STATES IN BHUBANESWAR NEXT MONTH

Jalandhar, November 21 (NEWS HUNT)- In a rare distinction, Jalandhar district has been selected to present its zero-pendency initiative at the region conference of twelve states in Bhubaneswar next month where Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori will deliver a keynote speech on Jalandhar administration’s innovation to make citizen’s service delivery system more responsive and effective.

Throwing light on the recent development, the deputy commissioner said that a national level panel has selected Jalandhar’s model for presentation at this prestigious regional conference in which twelve states including eight states of north-eastern and four from eastern region would be participating. Notably, the Jalandhar district was earlier selected for the coveted Prime Minister’s Awards in the category of improving service delivery by entering the final stage of the category.

Describing this as recognition of the administration’s efforts, the DC said that the opportunity to speak and present this project at such a platform was truly a rare feat which would go a long way in further motivating the entire team of Jalandhar administration to go on with such innovations.

Special Secretary to Government of India V. Srinivas in his communiqué has informed the state government that the initiative `zero Pendency’: making the system deliver of district Jalandhar (Punjab) is proposed to be presented in the conference for adaptation, replication and further innovation at larger scale. The state government has nominated Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori to participate and present this innovative idea in the conference which is scheduled to be held on December 3-4, this at Bhubaneswar.

Pertinently, Jalandhar district is leading in Punjab for delivering public services in a stipulated time-frame set up by the government and has the lowest pendency rate hitherto.

The deputy commissioner further mentioned that the district administration during its course to kill the massive pendency has evolved a mechanism to ensure the citizen’s feedback besides monitoring the daily progress of the Sewa Kendras. This mammoth exercise to reduce pendency and implement time-bound delivery of the services was initiated amid the Coronavirus pandemic, he added.

Crediting the entire team of district administration for reducing and maintaining the lowest pendency status in the state for the past few months, the deputy commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that it was because of the hard work and dedication exhibited by officials, which has received recognition at the national level.

The constant monitoring of the functioning and weekly performance review of the Sewa Kendras has helped a lot in ensuring the speedy delivery of the citizen-centric services adding the deputy commissioner said that Sewa Kendras were opened by the State Government to facilitate the people with more than 350 citizen services under one roof.
